Day 22: Davenport IA - Iowa City, IA

Time: 5:49:12
Distance: 107.56km
Average Speed: 18.4km/h

We were on the road at 8am and got breakfast in some highway diner after about 5km. The GPS is proving to be very handy at getting us out of cities and on to the main roads and today was another example of that. We came across another snake today, except this one was dead. He was more impressive than yesterday's snake and was about 2 or 3 feet in length. Even though he was dead I still had to work up a bit of courage to pick him up. Half way into our cycle today we met another man cycling across the country. Randy Norquist is cycling from Newport Beach, California to New York. It always gives me a great boost to meet people on the road doing the same thing as us and it makes the idea of cycling to San Francisco seem more and more possible. When we arrived in Iowa City we went straight to the apartment of Ryan's friend Steve and drank a few beers with him. After, we cycled out to another of Ryan's friends, Aaron where we are staying in Iowa City. As tomorrow is a rest day we will go out tonight and drink beer.
