We managed to get an early enough start out of Spring Valley and set out for Davenport. Late in the day I almost ran over a little black snake as he was crossing the road but he managed to wriggle away in time. It was my first time seeing a snake in the wild. We crossed the Mississippi river to get into Iowa state. When we got to Scott's (who me met on couchsurfing) apartment he had a growler of beer waiting for us. Our clothes got a long overdue wash and we hit a few of Davenport's pubs.
